Taifu Shoi Karate Do has 10 underbelt Rank levels which are called “kyu”.  Each rank represents a specific level of mastery. There are middle ranks between each belt, these are called “strips”.  To move and advanced through the ranks, students must master specific knowledge, character, terminology, techniques and forms.  In order to advanced through each rank and kyu each person has to take and pass a “Mastery Test”.  There are 3 to 4 Mastery Tests each year.  Black Belt Mastery Degree Level Ranks are called “Dan”.  The advancedment through Black Belt Ranks include teaching experience, leadership and character in addition to mastery of techniques
